comforts

comfort butt

I can't wait for when I can have 2 out of 2.

and so it goes

I have discovered that I am very good at creating conundrums for myself late at night when there is no one around to give advice.

I should preempt this by saying that I like any excuse to buy a new shoe.

Conundrum for tonight: footwear

Options:
ninewest $25-38 depending on source (inspired by peony),
red satin shoes with cute bows and peeptoes peeking out from under a white dress.  oh yes.
but oh so high.  and red was not really in the picture.

j.crew augusta peep toes $225
again with the satin and the wonderful bow in the perfect shade of yellow (why can't ninewest be in yellow?)
why so expensive!? shoes shouldn't cost more than a dress, should they?

same j.crew, this time in pretty peach and white

j.crew bronzed olive suede ballet flats $98
perfect, comfortable, beautiful flats; I love the tanned yellow; maybe I could even customize them with some pretty light yellow satin bows like the above heels?
sigh, they're not heels
anthropologie claudette slingbacks, $88
I like the flower detailing and the dusty pink colour
BCBGirls 'Lemon' sandal in paint splash satin, $98
what can I say, truly unique, like I just fell over five cans of paint, very me
too unconventional?  too high?

I have to say that I am leaning towards yellow shoes, what with all the blues and daisies that we are already envisioning.  And I know that flats would be the most practical, especially for walking on the grass, and I know that knowing me the shoes will disappear quickly in preference of bare feet, but there's just something about pretty heels....

Overall, I would like to be able to wear whatever I wear again.  Stylish but 'useful'.

Maybe I can justify getting both the flats for beautiful common sense and the paint splash heels for beautiful stylishness?

I need an intervention...........

the most random post

this is incredibly random, but for some reason it just popped into my mind.

when I was somewhere between the ages of 9 and 12 I was talking to my aunt and she brought up finger snapping.  I think the conversation went something like this:

me: "I can't snap, see?"
*snap*
me: "I've never done that before!"

and that was that, and ever since that moment I have not been able to go back to not-snapping...

decisions

making decisions is not my forte.  in fact, my friends would testify that I am horrible at making decisions.  but they really can't say anything because they are just as indecisive as I am.  they just like to give me a hard time about it.  we love each other in a 'special' way.

and so, I am finally faced with a real decision.  dresses.  oy.

I was originally thinking j.crew...

... three designs available to flatter everyone, and two shades of blue...

then the other night it hit me that my friends can look just as flattering and cute in less expensive dresses, and since I want it to be casual and wearable, why not american apparel?

the colours are punchier than the j.crew, but I kind of like that for a summery (hot) wedding.  and I like the blues too.  and at $43 a pop instead of $160-180, it's a lot nicer on young wallets.
hmmm.

not fall but spring

I know everyone is thinking about fall09 fashions, but I've been looking back at spring09.  I mean, how can we think about fall again when we haven't even had the first buds of springtime?!

Here are a few of my favourite looks from the spring09 collections.

street style: fashion week

the best part of fashion weeks is seeing the eclectic, stylish women come out and play on the streets.

I think Miss. Pettigrew may have inspired me.  We will have to wait and see... ;)

tuesday inspiration: amy adams aka delysia lafosse

on saturday night I watched miss. pettigrew lives for a day with my mom.

I love the fashions from the 1930s, with the care for detail and simplicity, and beautiful accessories. Ever since saturday I have been watching ebay for variations on 30s hats...

sophy

my honorary uncle Paul has a new puppy. a very cute little girl who now has the name of Sophy, after the word Philosophy, which is his study of choice.

She is 2 months old, very active, yet wise beyond her years.  Last night after getting her puppy jitters out I managed to get her to sit a few times, and then watched as she passed out to the classical music.

tats

I have this constant, unresolveable, nonsensical, cyclical desire for a tattoo.

This new fixture on Kate Moss is not helping me break the cycle...

who wouldn't want an anchor on their arm?  I think it's the secret sailor in me.

Or the seafaring pirate.

  One of the two.

D.A.

“Life is like a grapefruit. Well, it's sort of orangy-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It's got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have a half a one for breakfast.”
