new liberty fabrics

I love some of the new Liberty Art Prints for their fabric.
Some of them are very Japanese in style, but I think I like them mainly because I am a sucker for all things Liberty (at a price of course :) )

There are two or three variations on each print in different colors, but here are a few of the patterns I liked.
vibrant
subdued, but I like the dots in the background
big, lazy, purple flowers
graphic flowers
like under the sea
cool landscape print
I'm a sucker for tiny leaves, it reminds me strikingly of the classic Liberty Glenjade print
fish pretending to be bird in Strawberry Thief
And I just realized that I got this as a remnant in my last Liberty visit :)

Hopefully I can get some more of these patterns as remnants,
given time of course :) :)
Ha, if only I was rich enough to wrap presents in Liberty fabric...

rabbit tiles

My friend Ann was up at a yard/art sale in PA and came away with some bunny tiles!
Her though waves went something along the lines of "Hey, Ash likes tiles... Hey, Ash definitely likes bunnies... Hey, maybe I like bunnies and tiles too!!!"

In the end she came away with some very cool tiles, including this running bunny and the two bunnies looking at the moon, which I think is the best stuff.

I'm very impressed at the quality...

Though I don't think I would want rabbits all around my fireplace...

bunny in the moon!

The woman's website is here

and she will be at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen Fair 31 July and 1 August, so I wish I could drag my mom there for her birthday and to see bunny tiles :)

weekend wrapup

What a very very very busy weekend this past weekend was!

On Saturday we woke up early (but not as early as some) to meet Ste's Aunt Judith (and family and friends) in Stratford for a viewing and tour of the 2012 Olympic Park site. It was huge and impressive and it was really interesting to hear all about the history of the site and the area of London.

The borough of Newham was heavily bombed in WWII and never really regenerated, so is one of the poorest boroughs in England now. But they are very concerned with making sure that the Olympic Park will help their area and make it into a new up and coming part of London. Besides all of that, the site itself is amazing as well, and a lot has been done to clean up the environment around the park as well.

These are some images of the park. As well as Ste's Aunt Judith (standing) and some other relations (left to right, SJ, Keiran, Ken (Judith's husband), SJ's father, Aunt Sheila, and Sheila's son, cousin Mark)

Then after a long day and evening we woke up bright and early, much more at the crack of dawn to go to the monthly Chiswick Car Boot sale. It was lots of fun and we got some interesting items (as seen displayed later at home), as well as a few items for us that I have not photo'd yet (a little watering can and two deck chairs for outside). SJ turned out to have a very keen eye for deals...

Then, as it was the 4th of July, our friends joined us for a romp with the animals in the park (including a very fat, sleepy rabbit), and some homemade veggie burgers, mac n cheese, and peach raspberry pie. Mmm mmm.

Happy 4th of July!

weekday dinners

I've been experimenting a bit this week with dinner.

Monday was a red thai curry with coconut milk and fragrant saffron rice.

and Tuesday was a fresh broad bean and garden pea (from our peas!) risotto with feta.

yummy
