Since I first left for college 5 years ago I have lived in 7 different places. How?, do you ask. Don't ask, I say. All that this constant moving leaves me with is a strong desire to nest and build a home, and accumulate things. I am not talking about lots of clutter, but just nice things, so that if I see a nice chair, or carpet or random kitchen accoutrements, I can just buy themand put it in its rightful spot in my place.
I have always loved the idea of home, someplace to come back to at the end of a long day. A place that feels and looks like yourself. Where you can paint walls, hammer in nails, and do whatever you want. A place that you can invite family and friends to.
I think that this desire is also strong because I work in a very home-centred business and accumulate lots of random home fittings that I occasionally look at and caress; but I cannot do anything with them yet. I have a strong feeling that within the next year or so I should be settled more-or-less permanently in a place of my own (:D), but until them I will accumulate random knobs and inspirational pictures of home ideas that I like.

I love the high high ceilings, soft colours and tiled fireplace. I would love to have a fireplace in my bedroom and be able to curl up in bed, reading a book with the embers slowly cooling.
The bright blue sofa looks so comfy, but again it's all the light flowing in that I love. I also like how furniture is used to divide up the space instead of walls. I'd rather have a small, but open, home than a huge house with lots of rooms.
It would take a lot of work, and I don't know about the cramped-nature of the piece, but as an idea for a bookshelf it's pretty neat. Maybe even just expanding it so it is more of a room divider than a room-within-a-room.
Again, high ceilings and light, crisp colours for the bedroom. Nice and calming. And sheer blinds to let in the sun.
Idea for handmade lampshades covered in circles of felt.
Yes, bedroom again.
Wall painting, budding bunnies.
Wall painting, Le Petit Prince.
I want to find old, beat up furniture and revamp it with paint and new fittings.
Kitchen chalkboard, a chef's friend.
In future home-related posts I plan to talk about my love for Ikea furnishings and all things Swedish.
