empty space

missing British Boy (aka SJ) a lot right now.  On a bright note, this time 'off' (aka 'in exile') is giving me a lot of time to work on crafts for the big day and to sew all the clothes and accessories I want to wear this summer.  I have also discovered that I am, in my own words, pathologically optimistic.  I can see the bright side to everything, which really isn't that bad a trait...

new year new start

this past year was crammed with lots of events, both happy and sad, but being back home in PA (I flew back on December 11) reminds me how many wonderful people are in my life, and it is a comfort to know they will be there for me as much as I will be there for them.

I don't really believe in resolutions, just living your year as best as you can.  With that being said, 2009 should be filled with just as much as 2008.  Hopefully (for my friends' and family's sake) the events of this new year will be filled with happiness (and hopefully I can contribute to the happiness!!! but more of that to come later ;) ).

One thing that I do want to accomplish in 2009 is a road trip driving across America with SJ.  I really like these vintage postcards from different sights to see.  It would be fun to try and visit some of the same places and take a photo of what the views look like now.

journeys, hellos, and goodbyes

Sorry it's been awhile, I really have to get in the mode of doing this regularly.

A lot has happened since my last entry, most notably the arrival and departure of all of my people (also known as all my closest friends from home).

It all started on May 24th with me waiting at Heathrow Terminal 2 for an Air France flight that inevitable arrived an hour late. I amused myself by reading Persuasion and before I knew it Steph and Kate had arrived!

The friends arrival didn't end there... Katie P. arrived on the following Monday with her sister Krissy. AND to put the icing on the cake Robert had a layover in London on Tuesday night. Phew.

We all did so much stuff (including drinks with my boss that turned into an impromptu life/politics/therapy discussion; heartfelt moments in bathrooms, private and public; sightseeing...) But the best part was just seeing everyone again and being reminded what it feels like to have them around. They really bring out the best in me and it was hard to see them go.

Immediately after they left I came down with a bad cold, or maybe the flu, I didn't have a thermometer so I could never tell. I'm finally almost over it and able to breathe and exist like a normal person again, just in time to enjoy the beautiful weather we're having!

We're also developing some new items for the store, so i will remember to do something on that later on when it's more definite and I have images to match.
