birthdays and hedgehogs

this past Friday was Ste's 26th birthday. We celebrated with a themed party, as our friends always get strangely excited to be challenged with costume making. This time we decided on "come dressed as what you wanted to be when you were little". Ste was an astronaut, I was a dinosaur... enough said there.

Unfortunately, many of Ste's friends (aka physics students) had fulfilled their lifelong desires to be well... physics students. Now that I think about it, most of the boys had actually become what they wanted to be. So they tried to improvise and wrack their brains for what else they liked when they were little. So we ended up with a policeman who wanted to be a policeman since he was little dressing up as a builder (his childhood friends did say he had a love for construction cones as a child), a cameraman who wanted to be a cameraman since he was little dressing up as a bin man, a physics student dressing up as an astronomer.... etc....

Luckily, the girls had more vague, imaginative ideas of adulthood as children. Below we have the astronomer with (I quote) "I had vague ideas of having lots of animals and not really having a job and just having lots of fun..."

And, dum da da dum! The piece de resistance...
Hedgehog birthday cake!

Ste had a hedgehog cake for his first birthday so I thought it only fitting that at age 26 he have it again. :)
